5 Reasons to Fall in Love with Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Find out why we're highlighting Wonder in honor of National Bullying Prevention Month!

Ever since its publication in 2012, Wonder by R.J. Palacio has been a huge hit in the classroom. With its message of compassion and empathy, teachers across the nation use it to teach the power of kindness and acceptance. If you need even more reasons to fall in love with this book, here are five more:

1. Wonder started the anti-bullying movement "Choose Kind".

This national campaign encourages kids to pledge to choose kindness. Take the pledge here!

2. The story of Auggie Pullman encourages people to accept themselves for who they are, not how they look.

Inspired by Wonder, the Children's Craniofacial Association put together this heartwarming video featuring people who identify with Auggie's story.

3. Wonder has its own app.

4. The book trailer is sincere and moving.

A great introduction to the book, the video also serves as a launching platform to discussing how we should treat those with handicaps and facial differences.

5. There are lesson plans readily available for teachers.
