8 Physical & Spiritual Wellness Books That Will Help You Achieve Your Resolutions

Now that the holidays are over, we’re back to our usual routine. There’s always more work waiting for you in the office and though the gym may be calling, you certainly aren’t answering. Let’s face it: resolutions are hard to maintain. We may eat healthier for a week or so, go to the gym two or three times, or spend an hour or two investing in the spiritual renewal that we desired for the year ahead. But then, all at once, life seems to start to happen again. You are not alone – according to Forbes only 8% of people achieve the resolutions they set for themselves.

To help you get back on track, we recommend you pick up a book related to the goals you’ve set for yourself. This will help you recommit to your resolution and also learn more about what you are resolving to do. You’re far more likely to continue to fight against that extra donut if you are learning why it’s so important to cut down on refined sugars. I’m not recommending that you resolve to give up donuts, but I am recommending that you resolve to care for yourselves this year.

Here is a great list of physical and spiritual wellness books to help you get started!

For Your Healthy Eating Resolutions:

1. How Not to Die by Michael Greger & Gene Stone

how not to die

“Finally a physician has pulled together the latest scientific studies on how to fight disease and prolong life. How Not To Die shows how the right nutrition prevents disease and transforms our genes so we can live healthier, longer. Empowering, groundbreaking, transformative work.”

―Kathy Freston, author of Quantum Wellness and The Lean

2. Always Hungry? by David Ludwig

always hungry?

“Starving yourself and over-exercising makes you weak, not thin. Learn from a leading voice in nutrition how to strategically use food to permanently end cravings. You’ll never worry about calories again.”

— Dave Asprey, founder of The Bulletproof Executive

For Your Physical Fitness Resolutions:

3. Thinner in 30 by Jenna Wolfe

thinner in 30

“Jenna is great at mixing things up, pushing you in different ways, and getting you out of that all-too-safe comfort zone that we all tend to settle in, in our workout ruts. This book is a great way to get started in the easiest, most accessible way.”

— Natalie Morales, news anchor on The Today Show

4. Retox by Lauren Imparato

retox

— Shawn Achor, author of The Happiness Advantage

6. Presence by Amy Cuddy

presence

“Cuddy brings an abundance of humility and charm to the page. Her presence itself – her openhearted desire to help the insecure and the uneasy in this age of anxiety – shines through. Presence feels at once concrete and inspiring, simple but ambitious – above all, truly powerful.”

―Heather Havrilesky, New York Times Book Review

For Your Spiritual Wellness Resolutions:

7. 15 Things You Should Give Up to Be Happy by Luminita D. Saviuc

15 things you should give up to be happy

“Luminita’s wisdom radiates from her soul. Her writing, peppered with personal stories, quotes and insights have inspired millions. Which is why some of her posts have become among the most shared personal growth content in Facebook history. This book expands upon her ideas and teaches people how to capture that elusive things we all want most in life – happiness.”

— Vishen Lakhiani, founder and CEO of Mindvalley

8. The Name of God is Mercy by Pope Francis

the name of god is mercy

“As he has done throughout his papacy, Pope Francis shows in this book a compelling way to present God’s love anew to a skeptical world without denying the ancient teachings of faith. But now he is challenging the entire Church to trek a new way forward. Francis wants us to focus our energy on the 99% who need to experience once more the greatest realities of our faith.”
