From Lost, Broken to Better: This Book Is Wild

Wild wholesaleYou may have heard about the new movie coming out this weekend called Wild starring Reese Witherspoon. In anticipation of this amazing movie, we decided to read the book and get a feel for what it’s all about. Here’s a quick synopsis:

At the beginning of her book, Cheryl Strayed finds herself shattered, broken and lost. Faced with her mother’s sudden death from cancer and the end of her marriage, she leads herself down a path of drugs and promiscuous behavior. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, she decides to tackle the scars from her life and search for a life with substance, purpose and meaning by trekking across three states for a thousand miles. Wild tells the story of Cheryl's incredible journey, hiking solo along the Pacific Crest Trail to discover herself and learn to love freely again.

Overall, the book was incredibly inspirational. Strayed awakens your soul with her words and motivates you search inwardly until you are stripped bare with unexpected discoveries. This story is a reminder of how life’s challenges are blessings in disguises, especially when they lead you to find gratitude in dark places. Through her vibrant and spiritual words, I felt drawn in, anticipating each moment of her self-discovery from an unknown path along the PCT.

Wild is raw. Strayed’s openness and purity leaves you feeling her agony and grasping the extent of her pain. Personally, the book left me to ponder my own thoughts. This is a story of resilience, defeating doubt and misery, and connecting with earth’s beauty to become self-reliant and WILD with the thirst to live.
