#GIRLBOSS: One Woman's Journey from Dumpster Diver to Multimillionaire

Six years ago, Sophia Amoruso revolutionized the fashion world with the launch of her online store Nasty Gal Vintage. Known today as Nasty Gal, the company is worth at least $250 million. How did she turn a simple ebay store into a multi-million dollar company? Sophia reveals all her secrets in her new book #GIRLBOSS.

Amoruso provides a very candid account of her journey from a grungy shoplifter to CEO. Perhaps she divulges a little too much personal information, including details of a certain medical ailment, but Sophia clearly articulates how each part of her story contributed to her success as a #GIRLBOSS.

"A #GIRLBOSS is someone who's in charge of her own life," explains Amoruso. "She gets what she wants because she works for it."

A self-taught entrepreneur with no formal business education, Sophia figured out how to run her company on her own through trial and error. She put in the hard work, took the right risks, and learned from her mistakes. Amoruso offers some great advice for fellow women interested in starting their own business or achieving success in any career. Of the many wise suggestions, the following resonated with us the most:

  • You don't get what you don't ask for.
  • Money looks better in the bank than on your feet.
  • Failure is your invention.
  • The world is yours to discover and yours to create.

As Women's History Month is coming to an end, we are proud to see powerful women like Sophia speak out and encourage other women to take to plunge and pursue their dreams. #GIRLBOSS comes out May 6 and is available for pre-order in bulk on our website.
