A Man of Destiny

In a different time, Vic Kinkaid would have helmed Apollo mission control or helped build Detroit on rolling metal. Instead, Vic is a nondescript middle manager at Samson Trucking, forced to answer to HR Karens and running a failing logistics operation in a crumbling world. He’s a widower who takes solace in reading about the past, particularly his beloved Roman history. Vic figures he’s just about done.

But the world isn’t done with Vic. Shortages and riots intensify as a politically insane Washington stamps down on the American heartland. Then comes Covid-X. 

Vic emerges into a fallen world. Institutions are wiped away. The road belongs to predators. And the confused and delusional wait for a rescue that will never come.
