Going Mutts: An Andy Carpenter Mystery [9781250427717]

Overview

Once again, an adorable dog drags everyone's favorite retired lawyer, Andy Carpenter, back into the courtroom in bestselling author David Rosenfelt’s latest mystery, Going Mutts.

If there’s anything Andy Carpenter hates more than leaving the house, it’s getting stuck at a charity golf tournament. He only agreed to attend as a favor to his long time friend, Robbie Divine. It's been an exhausting day of mocking the sport and when Robbie suggests a new client for Andy, it's the last thing he wants to do. After all, Andy has been attempting to retire for years. But when a stray dog arrives at the Tara Foundation and he turns out to belong to Scott Frazier, Robbie's prospective client, Andy reluctantly agrees to look into the case.

Scott has been accused of murdering Patrick Deegan, his former boss and the CEO of a tech startup. After he was fired, Scott placed a large bet on a prediction market that Patrick's company wouldn't be ready for an IPO by the end of the month. With a terribly sick wife at home and large bills to pay, Scott really needs the money and Patrick's death ensured he got his pay out.

However, Scott maintains he didn't do it and that Patrick's company was destined to fail long before he was killed. Besides, Scott was walking his dog in the park the night of the murder where he was knocked unconscious and doesn't remember anything. Worried about the dog and curious about Frazier's missing memories, Andy decides to take the case. But the further he digs into the case, the more complicated it gets as office politics, a jealous husband, and mobsters all come to the forefront. Full of David Rosenfelt's trademark humor and wit, this case is bound to drive Andy Carpenter and the team nuts.
