3 Reasons Adult Coloring Books Are Great for Business
Why exactly are adult coloring books good for business?
Coloring books have been around for a long time, but lately, they’ve been making headlines in a whole new way — as coloring books designed for stressed out adults! Why is there so much craze around adult coloring books? Well, it turns out that coloring books for adults have a lot of the same benefits that they have for kids. Not only is coloring an excellent source of relaxation, it also help reinvigorate the mind during a hectic day. Check out a breakdown of some of the awesome benefits that come with adult coloring books!
Adult coloring books...
1. Relieve stress
As you’re reading this, there’s probably some part of your brain that’s thinking of something you have to do later. Mandalas, or circular designs, are a great place to start coloring if you’re feeling particularly overstressed. These designs are pleasing to the brain because of their concentric shape. In general, all coloring books help you relax because you’re focusing on the coloring instead of all the things you have to do. And by not thinking of all those tasks that seem to be piling up, you’re giving yourself a little break from the stress!
2. Exercise the mind
Though you feel relaxed when you’re coloring, that doesn't mean your mind is being turned off! In fact, you’re actually using your brain vigorously — just in a different capacity than when you’re finishing a project or solving a problem. Like when you were a kid, you’re using your fine motor skills to keep your color in the lines and follow a pattern. You also get to use both the left and right hemispheres of your brain, since it takes logic to keep to the pattern and creativity to choose what colors you want for the design.
3. Offer a nice break
At the end of the day, coloring is relaxing and so is taking a break from things that might be stressful or challenging. Breaks are a very necessary part of any busy work day. Stepping away from your work momentarily allows you to clear your head and come back to your tasks refreshed. Adult coloring books are the perfect resource to have in the office during a break because it really allows you to calm your mind. Looking at a computer screen or small type on papers all day is definitely not doing your eyes any favors! Be sure to give your eyes a rest by giving them some stimulus and something new to look at (not to mention something pretty).
