4 Simple & Delicious Holiday Recipes You Have to Try This Year

holiday recipes and cookbooks

'Tis (almost) the season for family, food, and fun!

There is something about the holidays that evokes the inner chef in all of us, or at least the “wannabe” chef — it’s all about the effort (or so we tell ourselves). It seems to be the time of year when homemaking, cookie-decorating, and turkey-stuffing become an undeniable desire. Who doesn’t want to curl up next to a fire with a homemade pumpkin cookie in one hand and a tasty hot apple cider or hot toddy (if your into that kind of thing) in the other during the this season?

For some, the holidays bring upon the stress of planning, gift giving, and hosting family trekking in from far off places. It's not always easy to find the time to enjoy this season in the way that we would like. So we encourage you to find an opportunity to bake, broil, and braise with your families by creating some new and tasty holiday traditions! After all, what better way to celebrate this time of chilly weather and togetherness than in the kitchen?

To help you get started, we've put together a list of our favorite holiday recipes. They're all easy to make and equally delectable, because we know you probably don't want to spend ALL of your time in the kitchen.

4 Recipes to Try This Holiday Season

Butternut Squash, Cranberry & Goat Cheese Crostini

I mean… Need I say more?

These are the perfect fall appetizer. I am crazy for butternut squash and also seriously crazy about goat cheese (on everything) so you can sign me up for this dish for every potluck for the next three months.

Pumpkin Cookies with Caramel Frosting:

Okay, you know those pumpkin cookies we all want to eat in front of the fireplace? THESE ARE THEM. I am relatively certain that I could eat two dozen of them and not think twice. I won’t, because there are still three months left of the holiday season. But that doesn't mean I'm not tempted…

Homemade Apple Cider

If you are feeling really adventurous (and have a couple hours to spare), I highly recommend trying to make your own apple cider this year. It is SO rewarding. This recipe is amazing, but the fun thing about cider is that you can add whatever spices you fancy and concoct something that tastes like fall.

TIP: Add a little rum to this one— you’ll thank me later.

Roasted Butternut Squash and BACON Soup

Did I mention I was batty over butternut squash? Because seriously, I meant it. Butternut squash soup is a seasonal must. Throw in that bacon and it’s a delicacy in my book!
