Eight school library ideas that will help you jazz up your media center all year round!
April is officially School Library Month, but we believe in celebrating the library all year round. Make your school library the place to be by trying out one of these amazing library decoration ideas. These creative book displays are easy to adapt and update, so they'll stay fresh and fun no matter what.
1. This Way To...
Set up a signpost on a column or wall in your library to get your kids curious about fictional places. Get students and teachers involved by having them vote on the locations to feature, or by having classes create a sign!

2. Reading Takes You Places
Travel across the globe with books! Highlight the real-world locations where some of the most popular books on your shelves take place on a grand map display.

3. Teachers Read Too! Can You Guess Who?
Get the school staff involved with this display by taking a picture of faculty members hiding behind their favorite book. Students will love taking a guess at naming the teacher behind each cover. The best part – the display shows kids that adults think it's cool to read!

4. Guess This Character
"Guess This Character" is a fun and engaging display that encourage your kids to remember the names and descriptions of their favorite heroes (and nemeses). Have faculty and staff nominate their favorite characters to get the whole school to participate!

5. Don't Judge a Book By Its Cover
It's hard not to judge a book by its cover, so wrap them up! Perhaps best for high school libraries, a "blind date" theme would be a fun way of introducing this "mystery book" concept.

6. Judge a Book By Its First Line
It's not okay to judge a book by its cover, but we think it is okay to judge a book by its first line (for the most part). A fun new spin on idea #5, this idea would also make a creative trivia display where students have to guess the titles by their first lines!

This "Teacher Favorites" showcase will get both faculty and kids excited about literacy. Teachers will enjoy seeing their picks on display and students will have fun seeing what books their teachers like to read!
