Want to Get Healthier at Work? Here's How.
Start picking up some healthier habits today.
Let's face it: working at a desk job from 9 to 5 makes it tough to be healthy. Between sitting at the desk for hours on end to snacking on processed junk food during break time, being active and healthy is hard. Here are some valuable tips that will help you become healthier in no time!
1. Watch what you drink.
Instead of picking up another cup of coffee or tea, drink some more water! Water keeps you hydrated, which is essential to keeping your brain functioning at its highest capacity. Plus, you won't get the caffeine crashes that come with caffeinated drinks.
2. Sneak in extra steps.
Skip the elevator and take the stairs on your way to and from work. This will help get your blood pumping and give you a boost of energy! Parking further away from the office is another great way to sneak in some extra steps.
3. Pack your own snacks.
It's difficult to avoid free, tasty, but often unhealthy office snacks. Consider packing your own snacks for work in your lunch bag! Healthy snacks will help you stay energized and focused throughout the work day. Some great healthy snacks include nuts, apples, carrot sticks, and yogurt.
4. Take breaks seriously.
Every 15-30 minutes, step away from your screen to take a break. This will help you keep your eyes healthy and happy. Take this opportunity to stretch out and move around! Exercise, no matter how light, is a great way to lower your stress levels. Taking breaks actually increases your productivity in the long run, so make sure you take them seriously!
5. Get a good night's rest.
Sleep is one of the most undervalued keys to health. You need a good night's rest to recuperate, process new information, and reset your body. Prioritize getting the proper amount of sleep (7-9 hours) at night. This will make you more focused and energized the next day!
