Overview

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Impossible relationships, private vices, and a crime that altered everyone’s life in Barcelona, in the nineteen sixties.

Barcelona, late 1969.
The Marquis de Soto, Don Julio Urquízar, is found dead and shows signs of violence. What is behind this tragic incident began earlier that year...

Six months prior. The world of splendor where the Marquis lives falters. On one hand, the danger of financial ruin is lurking. On the other hand, his relationship with his wife has been immersed in some sort of cold war, and his first-born son behaves like the irresponsible offspring of a rich man. The Marquis only feels close to his daughter, Marina, an undergraduate bored with her environment, eager to explore other places, neighborhoods, and romances.

Curiosity will lead the young woman to start a passionate affair with Jaco, her former nanny’s son, who tries to escape poverty through boxing. But while their romance progresses in secret, a threat begins to loom over the furtive couple: a dark plan that will mark their fate and the fate of those they love the most.

Chufo Lloréns, Barcelona’s great chronicler, transports us to a turbulent city of upscale neighborhoods and sordid alleys, in this fascinating story of love, ambition, decadence, and dreams of freedom.
