Overview

A classic series that has sparked a cult following and subsequent movie series, The Hobbit is one of the sentinel titles of the fantasy and magic genre. Author J.R.R. Tolkien crafted a mythical world filled with interesting creatures and characters, that have inspired countless fantasy and science fiction works that followed it. Before there was Frodo or Sam, there was Bilbo Baggins. But much like Frodo, Bilbo started out as a very reluctant hero. As a hobbit, or a small, human-like creature with hairy feet, Bilbo didn’t want to do much other than stay in his home. However, that all changes when the large and grand wizard Gandalf, along with some rowdy dwarves, recruit Bilbo for a grand adventure. Now Bilbo is a part of the crew that has to face a dragon known as Smaug the Magnificent, in an attempt to retrieve the treasure he’s guarding. Yet what Bilbo doesn’t expect to discover in their quest is something that will change him and the rest of Middle Earth forever. In The Hobbit, we’re introduced to Gollum, one of the most well-know frightening characters in literature. And of course, we learn about the Ring that controls the course of this classic fantasy series. The Hobbit is commonly ordered as a class set by middle school and high school educators and administrators. While recommended for readers with at least a twelve-year-old reading level, this classic fiction title is popular with adults as well. BookPal is dedicated to providing customers with brand new, highly discounted books and eBooks.
