Overview

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

In a dark age, marked by infamy and superstition, only the bravest will find justice.

A masterful historical novel set in 12th century Barcelona in which Juan Francisco Ferrándiz, author of La tierra maldita / The Cursed Land, brings us action, adventure, betrayal, mystery, and love.

On a frigid morning in 1170, a cruel verdict seals the fates of two families faced by greed and by feudal and outdated customs. According to tradition, the first-born of the two houses, barely months old, must be submerged in ice-cold water. The one who sinks will be God's chosen, and in that way proving their family was right.

After the sad and painful event, Blanca, the daughter of noble Ramón de Corviu, is the chosen one, and Robert de Tramontana, the Condemned, has to witness how, for years, the victors seized all his possessions. But, in those moments when both fought to survive, a special and unbreakable bond was born between them.

Years later young Robert left his lands in search of a more fair and just world, he went to study law in Barcelona and Bologna. There, the discovery of an old book makes him a pioneer of a great renovation and he is not alone in the struggle; the memory of Blanca will always have a special place in his heart.
