It begins with a letter of protest, where the characters complain about being mistreated by the author. Through its pages we see a parade of shaolin poets willing to fight, a Panamanian editor set on publishing a novel that will revolutionize world literature, a young forklift operator who becomes a corrido composer for one day, the best and most amorous Joan Sebastian impersonator, literary characters recruited by a head-hunting agency to participate in a novel. At the end, a character is revealed and challenges the author to finish the book without him.
