Overview

—No, no… Tengo miedo.
—¿A qué?

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A novel about the sea, love, and adventures in the Aegean Sea during the Spanish Civil War years.

She sought the man's mouth with her own, wet with salt.

"Are you cold?" he asked.
"No, no... I'm scared."
"Of what?"
"Of the moment when you're gone and this fades from my memory."

She pressed her dripping body against his; and Jordán, also with wet clothes, embraced her tightly.

"Damn you, Captain Mihalis," she suddenly whispered.
It took him a moment to understand.
"Yes," he finally said.

He raised his face to gaze at the dome of stars, which seemed to have descended to surround the two of them and their embrace, enveloping them until the end of time. As if they were alone on the last night of the world.

April 1937. While the Spanish Civil War rages on, merchant seaman Miguel Jordán Kyriazis is sent by the rebel faction to clandestinely attack naval traffic from the Soviet Union which transported military aid to the Republic. At the operations base, a small island in the Aegean Sea, the life of the Spanish corsair intersects in a murky triangle with that of the owners, Baron Katelios and his wife: a seductive older woman who desperately seeks a way to escape her fate.
