Overview

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

“The night of September 19th, 1986, I slept on the roof that took my father’s life, among broken furniture, cinder blocks, stones, and rods. I slept on thousands of tears, on the last breath of dozens of people. I slept soundly, surrounded by angels and ghosts.”

After the death of her father, Rodrigo González, in the 1985 earthquake, six-year-old Amanda Lalena Escalante boarded a plane bound for Mexico City with her mother, opening this autobiographical narration in which Amanda shares her life, at times piercing and painful, with profound intimacy and honesty. In these pages we will explore her childhood, marked by her father’s passing and a complex relationship with her mother, the financial and emotional struggles she went through her search for spirituality and forgiveness her incursion into writing and literature and her first steps in music, which lead her to become the Amandititita we all know.

In this book, Amanda journeys to the underworld, with “One day I will tell this story, and that day I will be alright” as her mantra. There she faces her most terrible demons to be reborn as the heroine she is, but above all, ready to look back and find the strength and humility to show her most authentic and human side.
