About the book
Best Day Ever
Every person born in the idyllic mountain town of Destiny Springs receives a gift: the best day of their life is typed on their birth certificate. On their best day, residents might have a parade thrown for them, head for Paris, or get engaged. No matter how they celebrate, everyone knows the date that will change the course of their lives for the better.
But Milly Olsen is one of the only people in Destiny Springs without a best day, a constant reminder that she doesn’t belong. As she watches her friends celebrate, she begins to question her future. Then, she discovers a box in the attic that reveals her parents have lied since her childhood.
There’s a best day printed on her birth certificate, and it’s later that month. Milly makes big plans, but as her day unfolds in a series of humiliating disasters, she fears her future might get worse. Will she cling to this one day to define herself or step forward into a spontaneous new life?
Now, as an older woman, Milly tells the story of her life to her granddaughter, and in so doing, she’s able to recognize how that chaotic “best day” set everything in motion for all that she loves and that life’s sweetest gifts always come when you least expect them.
