Complicated Creatures: A Paranormal Novel of Appalachia (Dead Y’all #1)

Six years ago she died. She’s been on the run ever since.

Harper never asked to be dragged into the corporate conspiracy that got her murdered by the man who’d promised to love her until death do us part. Turns out he kept his promise . . . kind of. He’s dead-dead and she’s undead. As in vampire undead. Unfortunately, now every Tom, Dick, and hairy monster is after her to finish the job he started.

Since then, Harper’s been on the run, assuming a new identity in every town. Lisa, Cindy, Susan—take your pick. The only thing she cares about is protecting the innocent woman who went mute after witnessing her brutal demise and resurrection.

Finally, they’ve found refuge—maybe even a permanent home—in a cozy, eccentric, and whacky Southern hamlet tucked away from the rest of the world. Between the fiercely supportive women, the many locals who are unapologetically themselves, and an ornery obese cat who hates her guts, the walls around Harper’s heart are beginning to crumble.

But there’s an evil presence surrounding the town, seeking to collect a multibillion-dollar bounty on Harper’s head. She has a choice—either flee into the dark once again or risk losing it all to fight alongside her found family, who have hidden secrets of their own . . .

Perfect for fans of Wednesday, Supernatural, and True Blood, New York Times–bestselling author Robyn Peterman’s Complicated Creatures is a story of sisterhood and secret identities that kicks off a devilishly funny new series full of mystery and unexpected twists.
