About the book
Ebru
Delve into the traditional Turkish art of Ebru marbling and create delicately formed floral prints.
Among the most recognisable elements of traditional Turkish paper marbling – or Ebru – are its delicately stylised floral motifs. Focusing on this botanical aspect of Ebru, this book offers step-by-step instructions for compositions including carnations, tulips, hyacinths, daisies and more – each created with mindful precision. The projects combine centuries-old techniques with contemporary insights, helping you refine your control over inks, solutions and strokes of the biz (a tool for dropping, mixing and moving inks).
Through hundreds of photographs and expert tips, you will learn to balance composition, master layering, and achieve harmony within the design. The book also explores advanced practices like twin flowers, bouquet arrangements and masked (akkase) marbling, as well as patterns for backgrounds and framing.
Whether you're looking to try new marbling techniques or gain confidence in more complex forms, this guide is both a practical manual and a source of inspiration. It invites you to embrace patience, rhythm, and tradition, while discovering your own creative expression.
