Remembering Roberts Creek: 1889 - 1955

From the tenacious Will Roberts who journeyed up the Strait of Georgia seeking property and gold to Dr. Frederick Inglis who sutured wounds by the light of his motorcycle's carbide lamp, from cougar encounters to creekside laundromats and ice cream delivered by steamboat, this anecdotal collection is a rich description of an era long gone and a reminder of the ingenuity required by isolated lliving. Detailed descriptions of early logging methods are a reminder that present-day driveways often follow what were once well-packed skid roads. An account of the creation of the Roberts Creek Community Hall in 1938 speaks to the strong community spirit that "Creekers" have always possessed.

With stories and verse by the renowned Creek author Hubert Evans, drawings by local artist Robert Jack, anecodotes from many early residents and dozens of rare photos, Remembering Roberts Creek is an engaging, colourful history of the pioneer settlement that laid the groundwork for the unique Sunshine Coast community of today.
