Broad Appeal: A Novel

From beloved icon Kelly Bishop, the Gilmore Girls star and New York Times bestselling author, comes a spirited novel that’s Golden Girls meets Sex and the City, following four women in their seventies who become roommates in a Manhattan apartment.

Roz is fine. Seventy-eight, retired, divorced from a man she barely tolerated, mother of two grown kids, and the proud owner of one seriously fabulous Upper West Side apartment. Then she receives a letter that changes everything: HOA fees are skyrocketing, and if she wants to keep her beloved apartment, Roz needs roommates. Fast.

Enter Millie, her sister-in-law and eccentric entomologist who dares to keep her insect specimens in the fridge; Candace, a former trophy wife whose husband lost all their money in a Ponzi scheme and then had the nerve to die of stress; and Pilar, a dance teacher Roz met while protesting gentrification in Spanish Harlem, who can’t resist a playful prank. Four women, one apartment, zero guarantee it won’t end in disaster—or someone won’t break a hip first.

Somehow, though, it works...and soon, none of them can remember living any other way.

But when money, truth, and the past they thought they'd left behind come crashing back in, the women must decide what’s worth holding on to—and how much they’re willing to give up to keep the life they’ve grown to love.

With candor and wit, Broad Appeal is a charming, big-hearted, and humorous romp written by the iconic Kelly Bishop with bestselling author Ali Rosen, that shows no matter your age, you can always start again, especially with the right people beside you.
