About the book
Climbing High
A gripping collection of original stories from female writers to motivate, empower and inspire.
Women’s ambition is not always welcomed, let alone encouraged. Climbing High: Speculative Stories of Female Ambition will feature stories exploring speculative contexts where female ambition is treated differently; aspiration and achievement are found in the face of adversity, and desires extend beyond what’s possible in our contemporary world. This anthology will also explore the sacrifices and consequences of such drive and determination, and the impacts of ambitions pursued or fulfilled, while fully embracing female empowerment.
The Flame Tree Beyond and Within short story collections bring together tales of myth and imagination by modern and contemporary writers, carefully selected by anthologists, and sometimes featuring short stories from a single author. Overall, the series presents a wide range of diverse and inclusive voices with myth, folkloric-inflected short fiction, and an emphasis on the supernatural, science fiction, the mysterious and the speculative. The books themselves are gorgeous, with foiled covers, printed edges and published only in hardcover editions, offering a lifetime of reading pleasure.
