About the book
How We Fly
We fly . . . over fields and houses and cities,
over continents and oceans,
across the room or from leaf to leaf.
But how do we fly? From birds and bats and bugs, to tiny seeds and huge airplanes, this primer on the very basic mechanics of flight gently reveals the science behind wings and how they help us fly, while connecting our physiology to that of flying creatures. How We Fly poetically opens early elementary children's eyes to how evolution and imagination have shaped the forms flight takes today. With sublime artwork and thorough and engaging backmatter, including an interactive activity and more in-depth explanations of the physics and anatomy behind flying, How We Fly empowers kids to engage with their connection to the natural, technological, and imaginative world.
