About the book
Skip's Surprise
Skip loves his family, his friends, and life in the meadow. But he has always felt a little different. When a chance encounter leads to an unexpected discovery, Skip learns that being different is part of who he is and that love, friendship, and family are what truly make a place feel like home.
Set in the warm and welcoming world of The Seven Hills Meadow, this heartwarming picture book celebrates kindness, community, and the universal desire to belong. Richly illustrated by New York Times bestselling illustrator Suzie Mason, the story is filled with memorable woodland characters and intricate tapestry-inspired details that invite families to linger on every page.
Inspired in part by author Perrin March's own story and the acclaimed tapestry artistry of his mother, Maud Rydin March, Skip's Surprise is the beginning of a woodland world families will treasure and return to again and again.
