ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

The fascinating lives of fifty forgotten women who played influential roles in Spanish history.

An anti-fascist illustrator, Lorca’s female love, the riflewoman who was the scourge of the French during the war of Independence, the world’s best trapeze artist, the woman warrior of Lepanto, the Sorolla sisters, the creator of the Mariquita Pérez doll, the opera singer who could have been queen, or the slave who was the most important female playwright of the Spanish Golden Age... These are just a some of the 50 women profiled in this book. With their sufferings, struggles, hopes and talents, they labored – often in silence – to build a more equitable society.

They may not have received the recognition they deserved in their own lifetimes, but all were ONE OF A KIND.
