Untitled 6317: A Novel

A child arrives in California to live with an old-money Filipino family just as a twist of fate catapults them into stratospheric wealth, in this globe-hopping story of love, power, and privilege from the #1 bestselling author of Crazy Rich Asians.

Cleo Kuok is only ten years old when she arrives on the Aragon family doorstep in leafy, manicured Los Altos Hills. Cleo’s bohemian mother, once a famous Hong Kong actress living in Ibiza, has absconded to an ashram in the Himalayas, foisting her daughter upon her oldest childhood friends—women she barely knows anymore. Disinterested in playing mother to this strange girl, the Aragons grudgingly move Cleo into the pool house attic and introduce her to their brood of spoiled, pedigreed children. There’s Tommy, studying business at Harvard, Isabel, fifteen and snobbish, Julia, twelve and downright rude, and Milo, thirteen and Cleo’s sole ally in this house of vipers. Not only are these children Aragons, an old Filipino family who can trace their lineage back to Magellan, but their patriarch, the feckless Tomas Aragon, is about to become an overnight billionaire as his company goes public, his stock soaring through the stratosphere, and launching their family into the highest echelon of global society. But Cleo, of course, is not quite what she appears, and her future will be intertwined with the Aragons in ways even she can’t predict.

In a sparkling, deliciously gossipy novel that sprawls decades and hops continents, from the mansions of Silicon Valley to the private island resorts of the Sulu Sea in the Philippines, Kevin Kwan returns with a glittering tale of romantic longing, family secrets, sibling rivalry, and VERY old money.
