About the book
Scrappy
The journey from tree to paper is anything but stationary. A companion to Stubby: A Pencil’s Journey, by Sydra Mallery and illustrated by John Hare, this humorous and surprisingly informational picture book about how paper is made is told by a scrap of paper herself.
Before she was a classroom handout, or a paper plane, or an origami hat, Scrappy was a pine tree in a forest far away. By now, though, Scrappy is accustomed to change and transformation. She’s used to turning over a new leaf.
Scrappy describes her adventure from tree to paper in her own (very silly, very dramatic) words. Her tale is sure to have readers folding over with laughter.
Along the way, Scrappy visits:
- a lumber mill
- a paper mill
- a printing press
- a classroom
- a recycling center
- and more!
Sydra Mallery and John Hare are back with a companion to their acclaimed picture book, Stubby: A Pencil’s Journey. Sydra Mallery’s text—equal parts humor, heart, action, and information—is pitch-perfect for reading aloud and storytimes. John Hare’s illustrations add to the fun, with Scrappy’s increasingly exasperated expressions stealing the show.
Scrappy is layered with curricular hooks and plenty of kid appeal, making it an excellent choice for fans of The Day the Crayons Quit, The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors, and School’s First Day of School.
The book, Scrappy: A Piece of Paper’s Journey [Bulk, Wholesale, Quantity] ISBN#9780062906304 in Hardcover by Sydra Mallery may be ordered in bulk quantities. Minimum starts at 25 copies. Availability based on publisher status and quantity being ordered.
