Des Weiteren wird die atomare Struktur der Materie beschrieben, deren Konsequenz dann die Stoffmenge und die Stoffmengenrelation sind. Auf dieser Basis werden anschließend die verschiedenen Lehrgebiete der Stöchiometrie ausführlich erläutert. Ein wesentliches, didaktisches Ziel dieses Buches liegt darin, dass anhand von übersichtlich gestalteten Beispielen der behandelte Zusammenhang vom Leser verstanden werden kann.
Die 2. Auflage wurde durchgesehen, dabei wurden Formfehler korrigiert. In einigen Fällen wurde die stöchiometrische Aussage präzisiert und der Index wurde erweitert.
