Facilitation in VERSE: A Hip-Hop-Inspired Framework to Engage Learners [9781970514841]

Overview

Bring rhythm, relevance, and better retention to your next training.

What do L&D professionals and hip-hop artists have in common? Both face skeptical, diverse audiences and operate within strict time constraints in environments that are full of distractions. In Facilitation in VERSE, learning strategist Tekeisha Zimmerman shares a framework to address those challenges in five stages: Vibe, Engage, Reveal, Spin, and End. The framework draws upon proven  techniques to engage learners inspired by hip-hop, including:

• Call and response
• Storytelling for emotional connection
• Repetition
• Intentional language
• Memorable takeaways

The VERSE framework directly addresses challenges learning designers and facilitators face every day, including high resistance and pressure to demonstrate measurable behavior change. The book is packed with practical templates, decision matrices, sample scripts, and self-assessments to help instructional designers and facilitators implement the framework. Readers also receive free access to an AI-powered coach that lets them practice applying VERSE in real time, working through scenarios and refining their approach whenever they need it—long after finishing the book.

The best trainers and hip-hop artists know that connection is what makes a message work. Facilitation in VERSE shows you how to create learning experiences that resonate in the moment and leave a lasting impression.
