Ghost Detective [9781805337058]

Overview

A detective's ghost investigates his own unsolved murder in this Japanese modern crime classic.

THE HARDEST MURDER TO SOLVE IS YOUR OWN

The beach at night. A detective by the name of Tatsuya Kanzaki is shot dead by his boss, but his lingering attachments and bewilderment at his sudden murder leave him unable to pass onto the next world.

Unfortunately, nobody can see Kanzaki—not his killer, Kyodo, nor his fiancée, Sarii—nobody except Hayakawa, a junior detective and, apparently, a spirit medium. Once Hayakawa has recovered from the shock of seeing a ghost, he teams up with Kanzaki to bring his killer to justice and uncover the truth behind his murder.

Step by step, Kanzaki and Hayakawa inch closer to the truth, even as more baffling crimes occur. But reaching closure means passing on, and Kanzaki must brace himself for his final goodbyes.

From one of Japan’s most beloved crime writers, who won the Japan Mystery Literature Grand Prize, this thrilling and darkly funny classic is now available in English for the very first time. A unique fusion of classic puzzle mystery, buddy comedy, and romance, it's perfect for fans who enjoyed The Man Who Died Seven Times.
