About the book
Jaguar E-Type
From its sensational debut in 1961 to its enduring status as a motoring icon, the E-Type has captivated enthusiasts around the world. This book celebrates that legacy, offering a comprehensive exploration of the car, including:
- A complete history of the Jaguar E-Type
- In-depth technical information for all E-Type models
- Over 300 photographs, including many rare historic images
- Detailed profiles of the talented men behind the E-Type’s creation
- A look at the E-Type’s enduring legacy today
The Jaguar E-Type is not only one of the most outstanding sports cars ever built, but also one of the most iconic, with a worldwide following. When it was introduced in 1961, it caused an immediate sensation, thanks to its beautiful, sleek design and advanced engineering, much of which was derived from the legendary Le Mans-winning D-Type of the mid-1950s. Whether drawn to the raw character of the 6-cylinder models or the effortless smoothness of the V12, there has always been an E-Type for everyone.
Jaguar E-Type – The Complete History explores the car’s history in detail, examining a wide range of aspects, including the remarkable team of world-class engineers and designers behind its creation: rarely in the highly competitive motor industry has such a dedicated and talented group come together to produce a true world-beater.
Whether the reader’s interest lies in the history of the E-Type, the people who created it, or its technical development – including detailed contemporary road tests – there is something for everyone. Illustrated with a wealth of historic photographs, some previously unpublished, and numerous colour images from the author’s own collection, this book also highlights the E-Type’s enduring appeal and the high regard in which it is held in today’s rapidly evolving automotive world.
