Lasting Footprints: Finding Impactful Connections in Work, Leadership, and Life

Some connections uplift. Some deplete. All leave a mark.

Lasting Footprints is a practical guide for professionals navigating work, leadership, and everyday relationships who want to become more intentional about the impact they have on others. Drawing on decades of experience in leadership development, organizational culture, and adult learning, Colleen Peterson blends research, real-world stories, and accessible insight to clarify what healthy relationships look like and what quietly erodes them.

Positioned at the intersection of psychology, leadership, and human connection, Lasting Footprints helps emerging and experienced leaders understand the influence they carry across teams, careers, and personal relationships. It introduces a clear framework for identifying “skunks”—toxic patterns and draining dynamics that undermine trust, confidence, and collaboration—and offers practical ways to shift toward healthier interaction patterns.

With reflection prompts and memorable models, the guidebook supports professionals in creating a Personal Connection Plan that strengthens both professional effectiveness and personal well-being. Rather than leaving relationships to chance, it encourages intentional choices that improve how people show up in every environment they move through.

Grounded in research and real experience, Lasting Footprints challenges professionals to notice the impact they leave behind and shape their relationships with greater intention.
