Die Begriffe Masse, Gravitation, Kraft und Drehmoment werden erläutert und die Axiome der Statik behandelt. Aufbauend darauf wird gezeigt, wie mehrere Kräfte oder Drehmomente zu einer resultierenden Kraft beziehungsweise zu einem resultierenden Drehmoment zusammengefasst werden können.

An einem ebenen System wird das Gleichgewicht von Kräften und Momenten bestimmt. Graphische Lösungen, die zum Verständnis der Thematik einen wichtigen Beitrag liefern, werden ebenso gezeigt wie rechnerische Methoden.

Die Bestimmung der Schwerpunkte von Linien und Flächen wird erklärt. In weiterer Folge werden Oberflächen und Volumina von Rotationskörpern mit den Regeln von Guldin ermittelt.

Der Begriff der Standsicherheit wird beleuchtet.

Abschließend wird die bisher betrachtete Statik mit den Gesetzen der Reibung ergänzt und auf das räumliche Kraftsystem ausgeweitet.
