Mirage

Jade arrives in New York with little more than ambition and the muscle memory of survival.
Raised in the shadow of domestic violence, she learned early to attach her hope to distant, untouchable figures. For twelve years, that figure was Gregory Burke—the celebrated actor whose face first appeared on the worst night of her childhood. He became safety. Fantasy. Proof that beauty could exist outside of chaos.
She never expected to meet him.
When an unexpected encounter in Los Angeles collapses the distance between idol and reality, Jade is pulled into a world of red carpets, Malibu light, and intoxicating intimacy. The love feels epic. Cinematic. Destined. She has dreamed of this for over a decade.
But slowly, cracks appear. The pedestal wobbles. The story she built begins to unravel.
What she thought was love, she begins to recognize as something else entirely.
Through therapy, inner child work, journaling, and brutal self-honesty, Jade begins to name what she has lived inside for years: limerence—an involuntary, obsessive attachment that masquerades as devotion. The fantasy didn't begin with Gregory Burke. It began the night her childhood shattered, and she needed somewhere safe to put her hope.
Set between New York's demanding dance scene and Hollywood's seductive glow, Mirage traces the painful and powerful journey from obsession to autonomy. It is the story of a woman who crossed an ocean, worshipped a dream, and finally had the courage to ask who she was without it.
This is not a fairy tale. It is a reclamation.
