About the book
Wood
A fascinating and insightful look at one of the most versatile of building materials, through 170 examples of the world’s best timber architecture by such luminaries as Renzo Piano and Sou Fujimoto
A fascinating, visually rich, and sometimes surprising survey, Wood highlights the range and unique qualities of this timeless material.
This compact book, organized into themes such as Texture, Juxtaposition, and Light, pairs engaging text with stunning photographs of cabins, churches, monuments, cultural spaces, and other projects from some of the world’s leading architects – from Renzo Piano’s otherworldly Jean-Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center to FOA’s sprawling timber landscape for the Yokohama International Ferry Terminal and Le Corbusier’s humble room-sized log cabin, Le Cabanon.
Also included are striking projects by Peter Zumthor, Sou Fujimoto, Snøhetta, and more of the world’s most outstanding contemporary architects.
Wood is a beautiful and informative visual exploration of a natural material that has inspired architects for generations through its extraordinary range of qualities, potential, and expression.
